Rinnmount/Begnagh: The restoration of the 45th lock is now complete, extensive rebuilding of the chamber walls having been undertaken. Construction of the new lifting bridge alongside the masonry bridge at Begnagh has also been completed. The WI crew have 'tied-in' the repaired banks to the bridge and are doing a trial re-watering of the level by pumping from below the 45th lock.

Ballydrum/Killashee: Serious leakage problems became evident in January 2007 following a trial rewatering of the 1 km stretch of the canal between Ballydrum accommodation bridge and the 44th lock. This section had been completely dry for years and was thus an unknown quantity. Leakage was found to be so extensive that relining the whole stretch proved necessary. Some additional grouting to overcome leakage problems at the 44th lock has also been undertaken.

Lyneen Bridge (Ballinamore): It is hoped that the construction of a new high-level bridge at the site of the culvert will commence shortly.

Mosstown: Work to replace both the culvert and the old concrete bridge with a new high-level bridge is in progress.

Cloonbreany/Foigha: The work of relining the channel along this 1.5km length between Cloonbreany Bridge and Foigha Harbour is now complete and trial re-watering is ongoing.

Mullawornia: Some further grouting has been carried out by contractors at the 40th lock to cure a problem of water leakage through the upper cill.

Ballybrannigan: Owing to the need for the frequent drying-out and re-filling of stretches of the canal west of Ballybrannigan for trial purposes it is not proposed to remove the temporary dam beyond the harbour in the foreseeable future.
